Arthur Charles Hollingworth (My Uncle)
On 14th September 1939, just two weeks after the start of the second world war, HMS Sturgeon, a british submarine, fired three torpedoes at HMS Swordfish thinking she was a German submarine. They missed. On 6th June 1940 HMS Swordfish was bombed by a RAF Hudson from 224 Squadron. They missed. HMS Swordfish was on her 12th War Partrol when on 16th November 1940 her luck ran out.
Uncle Charle was 23 when he died on HMS Swordfish.
